Get to know the module

Magento 2 BaseLinker Stock Export was created for stores that need more control over inventory synchronization than the standard integration offers. The module retrieves quantities from Magento 2 and saves them to the selected catalog and warehouse in BaseLinker, keeping product availability data consistent between systems.

The solution supports both the classic Magento inventory model and MSI. The administrator can specify one or multiple inventory sources, decide whether the quantity should be calculated as a simple sum or as a sum reduced by reservations, and set minimum and maximum limits for the exported stock level. This gives the module control over the value that is ultimately sent to BaseLinker.

Synchronization works by SKU and can be run automatically via CRON or manually from CLI. This supports both day-to-day store operations and diagnostics during implementation. The module stores synchronization history, logs warnings and errors, and maintains product mapping, which reduces unnecessary API requests to BaseLinker during subsequent runs.

If a product does not yet exist in the BaseLinker catalog, the module can operate in two modes. In safe mode, it updates only existing records and skips missing products with a log entry. In extended mode, it can automatically create the missing product in BaseLinker, assign it to the specified category, and immediately send its stock level.

A major advantage of the module is the ability to work in environments where inventory logic is not based on the standard Magento scenario. If stock levels are supplied by ERP, and the store operates with inventory management disabled on the standard BaseLinker integration side, the module can still retrieve quantities from Magento and pass them on to BaseLinker. This closes an integration gap that often blocks multichannel sales in practice.

Key benefits

  • export inventory levels from Magento 2 to BaseLinker via API,
  • support for MSI and classic single stock,
  • saving to one or multiple BaseLinker warehouses,
  • automatic or manual synchronization launch,
  • optional creation of missing products in BaseLinker,
  • product filtering by status, visibility, and export attribute,
  • operational logs and synchronization history,
  • secure configuration in the Magento admin panel.

Who this module is for

  • Magento 2 stores using BaseLinker,
  • implementations with ERP supplying Magento with inventory data,
  • installations with MSI and multiple inventory sources,
  • projects where the standard integration does not support the actual inventory model.

Configuration and test without saving

Stores → Configuration → Kowal → BaseLinker Stock Export includes the API token, sources, catalog, warehouses, filters, and schedule. By default, the module and cron are disabled, and synchronization runs as update_only with missing products skipped.

Test mode skips saving stock levels and creating new products in BaseLinker. Before starting, refresh the lists of catalogs, editable warehouses, and categories, then check a sample SKU.

MSI calculation and reservations

In MSI, the module sums the quantities of active items from the specified sources. The mode that includes reservations adds their signed sum for the SKU, then applies the minimum and maximum limit and a non-negative result.

The current calculator retrieves reservations for the SKU without filtering by stock_id. With multiple stocks, check the scope of this adjustment — do not assume that the result is identical to the salable quantity of a specific stock. A rounded integer quantity is sent to the target warehouses.

Run and diagnose the process

The kowal:baselinker:inventory:refresh and kowal:baselinker:stock:sync commands let you refresh data or run the export. You can limit synchronization with --sku or --limit.

The operational log is located in var/log/kowal_baselinker_stock.log. Creating missing items requires a specified target category. The export is one-way: Magento sends stock levels to BaseLinker.

Installation via Composer

Package kowal/export-stock-to-baselinker, module Kowal_BaseLinkerStock. After configuring access to the Kowal repository, install the package, enable the module, update Magento, and clear the cache. In production, include compilation and static content deployment according to the store’s process.

From configuration to results

1. Connect the catalog and warehouses
Configure the token, catalog, and target scope.

2. Choose inventory calculation
Select sources, reservations, and quantity limits.

3. Run synchronization
Review the test, then the save result and logs.

ERP supplies Magento, Magento passes the quantity on

ERP updates stock levels in Magento. The module reads the specified sources and sends the result to the configured BaseLinker catalog.

You control which system manages quantity. Match the export schedule to the completion of the ERP import and other integrations.

Questions and Answers

Question
Does the module work only with Magento MSI?
Answer
No. The module supports both Magento MSI and the classic single stock. So it can be used in newer as well as simpler Magento 2 installations.
Question
Can I send stock to more than one warehouse in BaseLinker?
Answer
Yes. The module allows you to select one or multiple BaseLinker warehouses and save the same stock level calculated on the Magento side to them.
Question
How are products identified between Magento and BaseLinker?
Answer
The primary synchronization key is the SKU. This is the simplest and safest operating model, especially for implementations where the product catalog is already organized.
Question
What happens if the product is not yet in BaseLinker?
Answer
You can choose one of two strategies: skip the product and save the information in the log, or automatically create the missing record in the BaseLinker catalog.
Question
Can the module be run manually during testing and deployment?
Answer
Yes. In addition to CRON, CLI commands are available that allow you to perform synchronization of the full scope, a single SKU, or a limited number of products.
